User Reviews about Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow Lightweight Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner
I bought this vacuum about 8 months ago. It has has normal household use. It was sitting in an upright position ( as it is shown in the pictures on the website) and fell over. The piece that holds the hose to the cannister broke off. To fix it you have to buy the whole hose and handle to the tune of $100.00! I was told by Panasonic that this part was not covered on the warrenty, only the motor was. I was very dissapoined. This vacuum is not cheap, it should al lest be covered by the companies warrenty! MLS in Florida -- vacuum is good but beware of the warrenty
vacume works well, could use a bigger hard wood floor nossel, we used one from a previous vacume which works well. -- vacume review
It's powerful and stylish. I wish that it's lighter, though. I still do not how to use its attachments. It's not very intuitive, but otherwise it's fairly good. -- Panasonic OptiFlow Canister
I had bought a Panasonic canister vacuum in 1984 and I still love it, but it was getting old and have to change bags when they are only half-full to get enough suction. After reading the reviews I thought this new Panasonic would thrill me as much as my old one. Not really. The cord is long enough, the hose is a bit short (shorter than the one on my old one), the new larger and bulky head doesn't fit under the couch and doesn't fit into corners easily. Even though I like turning the vacuum on and off on the handle, it makes it heavy to hold. I also expected more suction since I read the reviews. It might be just an adjustment period, but right now I'm not sure. I liked the old design. -- Not as thrilled as I thought I would be after reading the reviews
I had a Kenmore Progressive cannister vac and really, really liked it. That is, until the motor stopped working. I did lots and lots of research and decided that this Panasonic vac would be a good replacement. And while I do think it is a fine vac, it's just not as good as my old Kenmore.
The cons:
1) cord isn't as long
2) no on-board mini-vac to do quick jobs
3) bags are harder to find in stores
4) I don't think the brush does as good a job as the Kenmore in brushing up the carpet
5) no clean/dirty indicator
6) cannister doesn't swivel or more as freely as the Kenmore
The pros:
1) lighter than the Kenmore
2) cheaper
3) performs equally as good on bare floors
With that being said, I think if I were to do it again, I would have spent the extra money and purchased the Kenmore. I do a moderate amount of vacuuming every week, and this one performs well under those conditions (hardwoods, carpet and tile in a 3,000 sq.ft. home.) But it just doesn't have the "extra" features I grew accustomed to with the Kenmore. -- Wish I still had my Kenmore
